Welcome to the T&CVA Web SIte

The Thames and Chilters Vineyards Association was formed in 1988 to further the interests of the vineyards, viticulturalists and winemakers in the area. Today the Association has about 80members (including partners) spread between commercial vineyard owners, viticulturalists, winemakers and others with a general interest in viticulture and oenology.

The Association has members residing in the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Greater London. The Association holds three or four meetings and workshops per year on topics associated with viticulture and oenology (see "Events") and conducts an annual competition to find the best local wines (see "Competition").

The membership subscription includes a newsletter (for sample articles see "Newsletter"), notices and other items of interest that are circulated as required. For details of how to join the Association see "Join".

Member vineyards regularly compete in national wine competitions (winning the EVA/UKVA English and Welsh Wine of the Year Competition no less than five times in seven years!), international competitions and at the Inter-Regional Wine Challenge the Association was judged the Champion Wine-Producing Area of the United Kingdom in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1998.

In February 2001 the T&CVA affiliated to the UK Vineyards Association (UKVA). The Association's Chairman and Officers (for details see "Contacts") regularly liaise with UKVA, on all matters affecting vinegrowing and winemaking, putting forward the views of its members on matters relevant to the region.
